EPYSA is Accepting 2017 Union League Good Citizenship Award Applications

Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer is now accepting applicationss from high school juniors, active within Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer, for The Union League of Philadelphia's prestigious Good Citizenship Award. Award winners will be eligible to apply for a college scholarship provided by the Union League worth at least $5,000/year. The scholarships will be awarded during the student's senior year of high school.
Each year, the Union League hands out its Good Citizenship Award to as many as 20 Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer boys and girls who demonstrate exemplary qualities of the following:
·      Cooperative effort
·      Self-control
·      Perseverance
·      Serious scholarship
·      Good Sportsmanship
The Deadline for submissions is Monday, January 2, 2017. Each winner must be able to attend an all-day leadership program and awards dinner at the Union League on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.  The Union League of Philadelphia is located at 140 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102. 
Recipients will also be recognized at the annual Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Awards Reception (Date TBD)
A sponsor, coach or other adult reference may submit a cover letter along with the student's personal profile. Students may also submit their personal profile on their own.   
Personal profiles must include the following:

(1) Cover sheet (Click the download button in the upper right corner)
(2) Letter(s) of recommendation (No more than two)
(3) Academics including GPA, class rank, SAT/ACT scores if applicable
(4) High school soccer & other athletic participation including club team(s)
(5) Extracurricular activities such as school clubs, elected offices, the arts, etc.
(6) Community service such as church groups, volunteer work, etc.
(7) Awards and recognitions, athletic, academic or otherwise
(8) Part-time job(s) or other accomplishments
The cover letter and profile should not exceed four pages in length. Concision is valued. Long-winded essays, newspaper articles or other lengthy documents not preferred
The Union League of Philadelphia was founded in 1862 as a patriotic society to support the Union Army and the policies of President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War. The League laid the philosophical foundation for other Union Leagues across the torn nation. The Union League has hosted U.S. presidents, heads of state, industrialists, entertainers and visiting dignitaries from around the globe. It has also given loyal support to the American military in each conflict since the Civil War and continues to be driven by its founding motto, "Love of Country Leads."
